Navigation & Shortcuts
Navigation in view mode
Keep one of these mouse buttons pressed and move the mouse.
- LMB - Rotate
- RMB - Zoom
- Both MBs - Move along XY plane
- CTRL+Both MBs - Move along Z axis
Navigation in edit mode
Keep one of these mouse buttons pressed and move the mouse.
- LMB - Select
- +CTRL - Add to selection
- +ALT - Subtract from selection
- +CTRL+ALT - Toggle selection
- RMB - Move along XY plane
- CTRL+RMB - Move along Z axis
If the selection is locked (Space), then the view mode controls apply.
General Shortcuts
- Ctrl+N - Create new file
- Ctrl+O - Open file
- F5 - Reopen last file
- Ctrl+S - Save file
- Ctrl+Q - Quit program
- F9 - Add/import col models
- F4 - Toggle edit mode
- Ctrl+F4 - Toggle mesh mode
- Shift+F4 - Toggle color mode
- Ctrl+F - Find col model
- F3 - Find next (same search term)
- Ctrl+R - Reset camera
- F1 - View readme
- Ctrl+A - Select all
- Ctrl+D - Deselect all
- Ctrl+I - Invert selection
- DEL - Delete selection
(these apply either to col models or sub objects, depending on focus)
In edit mode:
- 1 - 4 - Change sub object mode
- Space - Toggle selection lock
- Esc - Cancel current editing operation
Creating a car with shadow mesh
- create the collision and the shadow mesh in 3DSMax or any other modeler, export them to a format CE2 understands
- start CE2 and import (F9) both files (might have to close any open files first)
- select the one which should become the shadow mesh, right-click > Shadow Mesh > Get From Collision Mesh, and then right-click > Collision Mesh > Clear Mesh
- then select both col models, and right-click > Merge, what should create the final model
- change the name and fix any materials/flags/whatever, if needed
- right-click > Export > Attach to DFF... and select the model file of your car
